Family is everything to me. In 2016, our wellness journey became a requirement, not an option, when my son was diagnosed with celiac, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), many toxicities and reactions to common medication protocols. Facing extreme health problems within my family, I delved into understanding food triggers, sensitivities, and embarked on a journey to heal the gut. My family has battled numerous autoimmune conditions, gut disorders, cancer, blood sugar fluctuations, and more. A Gut Centered and Detox Focus provided us with a solid foundation to fight these challenges. Reflecting on my childhood, my mother’s battle with breast cancer taught me valuable lessons. She transformed our nutrition, setting rules and boundaries focused on real food and movement, becoming our family’s health gatekeeper. Her example taught me to be my own patient advocate and to listen to my gut feeling. Over the years, I’ve faced my own health challenges. From managing attention deficit disorder in my son through nutritional changes to addressing my own struggles with heavy cycles, PCOS, infertility, and various health issues, I realized the interconnectedness of our health. This journey led me to uncovering functional medicine’s potential to address complex health conditions and genetic mutations like MTHFR.
